William Henry Wells, Jr., PE, PLS
(1950-2020)

Founded in 1991 by Frank Braxton, PLA, Henry Wells, PE, PLS, and Charles Musser, PLA.

Sungate Design Group, P.A. began with a focus on landscape architecture and civil engineering. From its inception, the firm emphasized thoughtful, integrated design and developed a strong reputation for responsive service and technical excellence, which are values that continue to define Sungate today.

Following Frank Braxton’s departure in 2002, Sungate continued to grow under the leadership of its remaining founders. In 2011, Josh Dalton, PE, CPESC joined the partnership, strengthening the firm’s engineering leadership and expanding its environmental and regulatory expertise.

The retirement of founders Charles Musser in 2015 and Henry Wells in 2017 marked a transition to the next generation of leadership. In 2021, Brian Elam, PE and Randal Howard, PE, PLS became partners, continuing Sungate’s legacy of delivering quality, client-focused solutions.
