Mr. Joe Dial joined Sungate Design Group in 2024. He began his career in 2019 with LJB Inc., where he worked on a variety of NCDOT feasibility studies and early‑stage roadway design projects. Seeking to broaden his technical expertise, he joined Sungate to add hydraulic and drainage design to his skill set. Since that time, Mr. Dial has contributed to a wide range of NCDOT initiatives, supporting both roadway design and hydraulics efforts. His project experience includes intersection improvements, low‑impact and regional‑tier bridge replacements, preparation of Bridge and Culvert Survey Reports, and the design of roadside ditches and drainage systems. He is proficient in OpenRoads Designer for roadway corridor, ditch, and drainage/utilities modeling, as well as AutoTURN for vehicle turning analyses and HEC‑RAS for hydraulic modeling.

Outside of work, Mr. Dial enjoys training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, reading, and hiking around the Lake Johnson area.
