REMINGTON SUBDIVISION DRAINAGE STUDY

Location: Holly Springs, NC

Description: Completed field surveys, HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS analysis of tributaries to Middle Creek for existing conditions as well as proposed conditions. Provided a model of the basin to the town so future development in the basin could be incorporated. Also, provided analysis of existing problem areas along with future problems that could arise with proposed solutions for each issue. Maps showing the limits of impact from selected storms were provided. SDG also provided a natural stream design to alleviate nuisance flooding and provide stream bank stabilization.

SUNSET RIDGE SUBDIVISION DRAINAGE STUDY

Location: Holly Springs, NC

Description: Completed field surveys, HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS analysis of tributaries to Basal Creek for existing conditions as well as proposed conditions. Provided a model of the basin to the town so future development in the basin could be incorporated. Also, provided analysis of existing problem areas along with future problems that could arise with proposed solutions for each issue. Maps showing the limits of impact from selected storms were provided.

WINDWARD POINTE SUBDIVISION DRAINAGE STUDY

Location: Holly Springs, NC

CARRBORO STORMWATER INVENTORY

Location: Carrboro, NC

Description: Currently finalizing a survey that encompasses the entire Town of Carrboro’s storm drainage systems and will be used to create a GIS and online web database to facilitate future basin and flood studies.

JAMES STREET DRAINAGE STUDY

Location: Carrboro, NC

Description: Completed field surveys, HydroCAD and HEC-RAS analysis of tributaries to Tom’s Creek for existing conditions as well as proposed conditions. Provided a model of the basin to the town so future development in the basin could be incorporated. Also, provided analysis of existing problem areas along with future problems that could arise with proposed solutions for each issue. Maps showing the limits of impact from selected storms were provided.

URBAN STREET CULVERT SCOUR

Location: Cary, NC

Description: A culvert on Urban Street in Cary was proposed to replace an existing culvert, which was creating flooding problems on upstream properties. The proposed culvert, a 12’ X 6’ prefabricated structure, was designed by the Town of Cary and was to be installed on footings. SDG was retained by the Geo-technical Consultant to the Town to analyze potential sour depths associated with the new structure. SDG was responsible for the evaluation of scour to meet current Town and NCDOT standards. The study findings and design recommendations were then provided to the Geotechnical Consultant for implementation.

MORGAN CREEK FLOOD STUDY

Location: Carrboro, NC

Description: Completed field surveys and HEC-2 analysis of Morgan Creek to correct FIS maps using current topographical mapping. Maps showing the limits of impact from selected storms were provided.

MUD CREEK FLOOD STUDY

Location: Hendersonville, NC

Description: Completed field surveys, HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS analysis of Mud Creek in downtown Hendersonville, NC. Maps showing the limits of impact from selected storms were provided.

VARIOUS FEMA FLOODWAY MODIFICATIONS

Description: Completed over 30 FEMA Floodway Modifications and over 100 “No Rise” Certifications in counties across North Carolina using various models (E-431, HEC-2, and HEC-RAS using the new NC Floodplain Mapping Data). Types of floodway modifications obtained include CLOMR, LOMR, LOMA, CLOMR-F, and PMR.
